Pieter Leemans

Born in Schaarbeck a suburb of Brussels in 1897.
After leaving the Belgian army in 1919, he studied piano, harmony, counterpoint, orchestration and composition. After het got his degree in 1922 he became a music teacher at the Schaarbeck High School and later at Etterbeck Music Academy.
In 1932 he resigned from his teaching position and started working with official broadcasting company in Belgium as a pianist, conductor and program director.
From 1943 – 1945 he was the conductor of the Philharmonic Society in Brussels.
He died in Elsene, south of Brussels, on January 10 1980.
