Orion R. Farrar

Orion R. Farrar was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1866. Soon after he was be born he and his family moved to Warren, Ohio. When he was 19 he began studying music at the Dana Musical Institute. There he studied theory, composition, and cornet. After graduation he taught at Dana for seven years.
In 1896 he left Dana and founded the Indiana State Band, a band he led for two years.
He then returned to Ohio and led the Ohio State Band. Later he moved to Youngstown, Ohio, in 1901 where he led the Youngstown Military Band.
